Will I have a chance to get into Lowell High School?

In the 7th grade, I had a GPA of 4.3 for all three trimesters. I'm in my 8th grade year and so far for the first and second trimester I have a GPA or 4.0. I haven't taken my 8th grade STAR test yet, but for my 7th grade year, I got a 446/600 in the English-Language Arts section. In the Mathematics section, I got a 584/600. I haven't really done any community service, but my extra activities are violin, soccer, volleyball, student council, MOUSE Squad, and a semester of Algebra 1 and some of Algebra 2 at the Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey. Do I have any chance of getting into Lowell? On the application, they said they will have an essay for us to do in January 2011, and it's already February! Does this mean I didn't get in?
