Why do people think the American Idol Judges were way too nice?

Like they say they were too nice and all that but for me there could not have been any bad criticism cause all the contestants of this season were phenomenal. They consistently did great in every performance. If most of the contestants would have sucked they would have criticized them but since no one really did they had to give the correct criticism to keep it fair. What does everyone want, for the judges to make things up or lie to criticize the contestants wrongly. Now that is not fair.
