What role does religion play in right wing politics and what?

role should it play according to the constitution? why do some members of the right seem to be so religiously driven to convert through the constitution? why is it when someone criticizes the religion in the right wing they are accused of being against religion? and are there any conservatives who would like their party to drop the religious ties and be a purely political entity?
