Who designed the first American factory? Samuel Slater or Francis Lowell?

I know that samuel slater made the first factory in america, but he stole the blueprints from britian. Francis on the other hand, did not make the first factory, but he did make the first factory to COMPLETE the textile process which was his own idea, and he did it in America. So, which is it? Or is it some else entirely?
